Ms. Antoinette Anusuya M.G. – Trustee (Educationist & Human Rights Advocate)

Ms. Antoinette Anusuya M.G. is a trustee of the Two Leaves Trust and a well-respected educationist, human rights activist, and community worker. Though she is currently committed to working with another organisation, she continues to support the mission of the Two Leaves Trust indirectly, contributing her experience and wisdom in many ways.

She was born into a family rooted in service. Her mother was a government schoolteacher, and her father worked as a factory officer before becoming a welfare officer in the plantation sector. Her childhood was spent in Craig Estate, Bandarawela, where she began her education journey.

Ms. Anusuya was first admitted to St. Mary’s College, Bandarawela, marking the beginning of her formal schooling. She then continued her primary education at Craig Estate Tamil School, where she made history by becoming the first student from that school to pass the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination. She was also the first student to be awarded a double promotion, a recognition given to high-performing students during that period.

Following her achievements at Craig Estate, she pursued her further studies at Poonagala Tamil School, where her mother had been transferred as a teacher and her father continued serving as a welfare officer.

For her secondary education, she moved to Colombo and enrolled at Girls’ High School, Colombo 6, a school known today as Saiva Mangaiyar Kalagam. This institution shaped her academic development and deepened her involvement in social and cultural activities.

After her time in Colombo, she completed her Advanced Level studies at Girls’ High School (Tamil), Badulla. By this time, Ms. Anusuya had already begun to make a name for herself as a youth leader. At just 14 years old, she became one of the youngest All-Island award-winning public speakers, gaining recognition for her powerful voice and social commitment.

Before her professional journey formally began, she supported her father’s community-based activities as a voluntary worker, gaining early experience in the field of social service.

Her teaching career began with a Presidential appointment as an English Graduate Teacher, an honor given to only a select few across the country. She served as an English teacher in government schools for nearly 10 years, nurturing the talents and character of her students. She later went on to work in several leading private and non-governmental organizations, extending her educational and social impact beyond the classroom.

Ms. Anusuya is a dedicated academic. She holds a bachelor’s degree,  1 postgraduate diploma, and 2 master’s degrees. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) to further enhance her leadership and management skills.

Her journey from a plantation school in Craig Estate to becoming a national voice in education and social work is a powerful reflection of her determination, values, and vision. Ms. Antoinette Anusuya M.G. continues to inspire young women, educators, and community leaders across Sri Lanka.
